Among roughly 8 billion people there are about 12,000 people groups, or ethno-linguistic groups with a common self-identity.

For strategic purposes a people group is the largest group within which the Gospel can spread without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance.

Over 7,000 of these people groups have insufficient witness from the global Church to engage the people group with church planting.

Roughly 3,000 of these groups are unengaged by the global Church. For each one there are about 130,000 evangelical Christians — a staggering ratio that shows the need is not awareness but willingness.
